Women play significant roles in the a cappella world - as performers, as arrangers, as producers, as mentors, as educators, leaders and role models. While the female members of the a cappella community have done so much for the genre and those who participate in it, there is still a disparity between men and women in a cappella, especially in numbers and representation. Furthermore, there is societal pressure on women to place undue importance on their sexuality and physical beauty for the sake of self-promotion and the pursuit of long-term and large-scale success. The Women's A Cappella Association was born out of the desire to create a hub for women's creative ideas and endeavors, a sounding board for our growth and innovation, a devoted space to express ourselves, and a launching pad for building, strengthening, polishing, confronting and celebrating all aspects of women in a cappella.
